THE UAE TOURISM INDUSTRY
The travel and tourism sector contributes USD 43.3 billion to the country’s GDP, which is 12.1 percent of its GDP. It is expected to rise by 4.9 percent per annum, which would be 12.4 percent of its GDP in 2027.
The sector also directly supports around 317,500 jobs in the UAE, which is 5.4 percent of total employment. This is also expected to rise by 2.4 percent per annum to 410,000 jobs, and that would be 5.9 percent of total employment in 2027.
ABOUT THE UAE
The UAE or the Emirates is a country in Western Asia. The sovereign constitutional monarchy is a federation of seven emirates consisting of Abu Dhabi (the capital), Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah, and Umm Al Quwain.
These states are famous for their iconic skyscrapers, gigantic modern malls, breath-taking desert landscapes, and palatial beach resorts.

The UAE has a rich culture that reflects traditional Arab and Islamic values. Emirati culture has also been influenced by the cultures of Persia, India, and East Africa which is noticeably visible in its architecture, folk arts, and fashion. Emiratis are social people. They are warm hosts and treat their guests with grace. An Emirati man greets another Emirati man by rubbing his nose against the other’s and then a handshake, an embrace, and greetings of peace usually follow.

Without a doubt, the UAE is a safe country to visit. In the recent 12th International Symposium for Police Best Practice, UAE was hailed as the safest country on earth. However, care and precaution should still be exercised at all times when traveling in the country.
2. Is the UAE expensive?
Living or travel costs can be as expensive or as affordable as you want it to be. On the other hand, if you visit the country for work and travel at the same time, living comfortably is pretty manageable. Goods and services are generally affordable here!
3. Do people speak English in the UAE?
Although Arabic is the official language of the UAE, English is the most common spoken language in most states such as Dubai and Abu Dhabi. In fact, English is the second language used in UAE’s educational system.
WHAT TO EXPECT UPON ARRIVAL?
The UAE has 5 major airports: Abu Dhabi International Airport, Dubai International Airport, Fujairah International Airport, Ras Al Khaimah International Airport, and Sharjah International Airport. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into the UAE. The list of countries eligible for visa on arrival may vary from time to time; therefore, it is advisable to check with the UAE embassy in your country before travelling to the UAE.
